Founder & CEO

Laura (she/her) is located in Ottawa, Ontario, which is situated on the traditional unceded territories of the Anishinaabe Algonquin people.

After three decades of involvement with non-profits and charities, and years of successful grant writing, Laura started YellowTree in 2018 to help organizations find their funding. She is passionate about social justice and generally making the world a better place.

Laura works with her fantastic team at YellowTree to ensure that all of our work is exceptional. She also oversees all things marketing, sales and business-related at YellowTree and delivers grant-related training and coaching to non-profit leaders as well.

Laura has a PhD in Political Science, an MA in Canadian Studies, and a BA in Sociology. She draws upon almost a decade of experience working with various federal government departments to help clients understand government granting processes, as well as performance measurement and reporting requirements. Her numerous years of experience in academia provides confidence to their clients that grant applications will be meticulously researched, edited and prepared.

She is also the President and co-founder of the Grant Professionals Association Canadian Chapter.

In her spare time Laura loves to travel and camp with her spouse Miriam and their dog Archie – although their grown children no longer wish to accompany them!
