Steven Watts

Grant Associate

Steven (he/him) is located in Hamilton, Ontario which is situated upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas.

Steven has almost 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector working with environmental organizations and a Master’s in Communications and New Media from McMaster University. His background in communication provides expertise in translating complex scientific information into digestible content for online audiences, stakeholders, and funders.

At YellowTree, Steven works with environmental nonprofits and charities to pursue their mission of greener, healthier communities. From national decarbonization to protecting local turtles, Steven is eager to help nonprofits get their projects funded.

Steven’s passion for a cleaner planet extends beyond his work at YellowTree to his backyard - which has a thriving native plant garden with endangered moths, hummingbirds, several species of bees, and a well-fed rabbit calling it home. He’s always looking for ways to live more sustainability and do his part to protect the environment.
